**Client:** Stadtwerke Leipzig GmbH
**Project Duration:** 2020–2024
**Location:** Leipzig, Saxony
**Scope of Contract:** Complete Electrotechnical Package
The power plant is a key component of Leipzig’s energy future and is intended to contribute to an efficient, climate-friendly supply of electricity and heat for the city.
Elpro was responsible for the planning, delivery, and implementation of all electrical systems, including:
- Medium- and low-voltage switchgear, including raised flooring
- Transformers
- Uninterruptible power supply (UPS) and secured 220 VDC
- Complete cabling (10 kV and LV), including cable trays
- External lightning protection and equipotential bonding
- Standard and emergency lighting
- KNX-based lighting automation
- Socket and power distribution systems
- Comprehensive engineering including load flow, short-circuit, and selectivity calculations
The ambitious timeline set by Stadtwerke Leipzig required early acceleration measures and close coordination with other trades. Elpro maintained a full-time, experienced site manager on location to coordinate subcontractors and manage interfaces with other contractors. Parallel workflows and continuous process optimization on-site played a key role in delivering the project on time.
Particular attention was paid to the project’s technical complexity: two gas turbines with heat recovery boilers had to be commissioned within a tight timeframe – all while accounting for seasonal constraints.
The project was successfully completed. Elpro not only met all technical requirements but also demonstrated its expertise as a reliable, communicative, and solution-oriented partner.
