Elpro implements electrical engineering for the
new biomass heating power plant in Hanover-Stöcken

The newly constructed biomass heating power plant (BMHKW) at the joint power station in Hanover-Stöcken has, for the first time, fed heat into the district heating network – an important step toward climate-neutral heat supply for the city of Hanover.

Elpro GmbH was responsible for the complete electrical engineering of this forward-looking project – from the medium-voltage switchgear and electric drives to the measuring technology and the entire process control system (PCS7). Planning, delivery, and commissioning were all carried out by Elpro from a single source.

With the successful commissioning of the district heating extraction, the project now enters its final testing phase. The next step will be to connect the steam turbine to the grid, enabling the additional supply of electricity to the regional power network.

The project demonstrates impressively how technical expertise and sustainable energy generation can work hand in hand. In doing so, Elpro makes an important contribution to the transformation of Germany’s energy infrastructure.
