The Elpro Fast Switching Module (FSM) offers an innovative solution for the safe and efficient control of DC railway power supply systems. Thanks to its power electronic switching principle, it enables fast, wear-free disconnection of operational and fault currents — in both forward and reverse directions.

Function

The FSM operates with a current rise-dependent protection mechanism that limits currents to a maximum of 20 kA, reliably protecting the system from damage.
With a response time of just 2.2 milliseconds, it offers one of the fastest available protection solutions for DC railway power systems.
Additionally, the module can be remotely controlled and diagnosed. Via a digital interface, overcurrent protection functions can be parameterized in 100 A increments, and switching between operating and disconnect positions can be flexibly managed.
