We’re proud to announce that our innovative project GUW+ (Rectifier Substation Plus) is one of the five winners of the German Mobility Transition Award 2024. This project represents a true revolution in the energy supply of public transportation and plays a key role in advancing the mobility transition. By intelligently utilizing existing infrastructure and integrating modern technologies—such as regenerative braking and second-life vehicle batteries—we are creating solutions for an emission-free and sustainable future.
Elpro’s Role in GUW+
As the project’s main technical partner, Elpro has taken on a key role in its modernization. We supplied cutting-edge power electronics, innovative switchgear, and advanced safety and process control systems. We are particularly proud of our energy management system EOS, which maximizes energy efficiency through precise data monitoring and process optimization. These systems enable the recovery of braking energy and reduce load peaks through peak shaving, significantly lowering operating costs. In addition, the integration of second-life vehicle batteries contributes to grid stability.
The German Mobility Transition Award recognizes projects that offer innovative and sustainable solutions for the mobility sector and make a strong contribution to transforming transportation. The award is presented by Allianz pro Schiene and honors companies that embrace forward-looking technologies to make public transit cleaner and more efficient.
